About AI Biologist

Studying the intersection of AI and life sciences.

AI Biologist exists to track how machine learning is changing biology and medicine — from diagnosis and drug design to genomics and neuroscience — and to build the foundations needed to work responsibly at that intersection.

Our approach

Biology is adaptive, noisy, multi-scale, and deeply coupled: molecules shape cells, cells shape tissues, tissues shape organisms. We treat that complexity as the reason AI in biology is hard — and the reason it matters.

We track foundations, open problems, and current solutions side by side, so progress can be judged against both computational performance and biological or clinical validity.

Who we are

AI Biologist is led from the OPTIMAL research group at IIIT Hyderabad — researchers working on machine learning for medical imaging, provably fast optimization algorithms, and AI applied to scientific and biological problems.

AI Biologist is part of the AI Wranglers family of sites, alongside AI Mathematician.

Our promise

Evidence over hype

A benchmark score is not a cure or a diagnosis. We favor claims validated by data, experiment, and clinical rigor.

Foundations and frontier

Clear entry points for newcomers to AI-in-biology, alongside living maps of the field's hardest open problems.

Built to keep pace

Biology and AI are both moving fast. Our tracks and material are revised as models, tools, and evidence change.
